Content rewrite and guidelines

Transport for NSW decided it was time for an online overhaul – a new look, a new URL, a restructure, some improvements to functionality and a content rewrite to coincide with the introduction of more public transport services running to a new timetable.

Happy Content was asked by our friends at Stamford Interactive to work with them as a content partner on the project.

Our job was to write most of the words on the site: promotional and launch messages, keys to transport icons, colours and codes used in maps, instructional text and labels for then Plan your trip feature, mobile content, image alt text, travel and tickets information, and error messages.

We also wrote a guideline document (of nearly 100 pages) to help internal content managers create accessible, consistent content style/writing/accessibility how-to reference document to help the content managers to keep the content consistent, up-to-date and compliant with W3C WCAG2.0 guidelines.

The site launched in November 2013.
